Pantone Unveils a Fresh and Playful Spring/Summer 2008 Palette

Designers Dive into Color for Spring

Splashes of brights punctuate neutrals as designers offer a playful spring palette. Variations on popular colors such as energizing red, cool water-blue and eco-friendly greens also play a key role this season. "The spring '08 color palette perfectly reflects the cheerfulness of the season," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Stabilizing neutrals combined with pops of brighter colors to create unique, distinctive looks are the basis for a great spring and summer wardrobe."

Snorkel Blue, a designer fave for Spring, is a wearable, sophisticated and lively navy. Golden yellow Freesia looks warm and sunny. Spring's bright red is Rococco Red. Spring Crocus is a pinkish purple. Daquiri Green is a bright take on the yellowed eco-greens. Golden Olive is a warmed earthy golden green. Pink Mist, a delicate and subtle pink with blue undertones compliments all the colors in the Spring palette. Cantaloupe pairs especially well with browns. Croissant provides a neutral tan base. Silver Grey packs a metallic punch with clothing and accessories.
